GREAT WEEK FOR DANISH CULTURE
Danish film and music has been in the spotlight this week. At the US Grammy Awards, at the Sundance Film Festival as well as at the Academy Award nominations, Danish artists were celebrated for their creative work.
On Sunday, Danish vocalist ensemble Ars Nova and Theatre of Voices won the US Grammy Awards for Best Small Ensemble Performance. Meanwhile, at Sundance, "The Red Chapel" and director Mads Brügger received the World Documentary Grand Jury Prize. Finally, an unprecedented number of nominations for the Academy Awards went to Danish films. “The New Tenants” was nominated for Best Short Film, “Burma VJ” competes in the category Best Feature Documentary and Lone Scherfig's “An Education” competes for Best Picture.
